If this were an actual emergency we’d be screwed.

This is CarDog.  CarDog has one very important job and that is to live in the car and provide traveling companionship to Mo.  At various times, Mo will request CarDog to join her into restaurants and stores.  CarDog never goes in the house because CarDog and the Mawny posse don’t get along that well.

So anyway, my story leads us to last Thursday night.  Mo and I are out running errands.  We need to go to Mo’s favorite store (TARGET!) and she requests to bring CarDog along.  I agree and away we shop.  We finish up and get out to the car and Mo asks “Daddy, where’s CarDog?”.

Daddy:  Mo I don’t know where CarDog is, don’t you have him.
Mo:  No Daddy, I no have him.
Daddy:  He’s not on the front seat.  Mo did you leave him in the store?
Mo:  Yes Daddy, in the store.

I run back in the look for the cart that we used and lo and behold, THE CART WASN’T THERE!!  I thought maybe that it got squooshed with the other carts, but no.  I checked them all.  No CarDog.

I drop Mo in a new cart and we started to search for our little buddy.  You should have seen the strange looks we got when I would peer into their shopping carts.  C’mon, it’s not like I’m the first parent in the world to frantically search a major department store in hopes to find their child’s bestest traveling buddy.  Geesh!

Anyway, we search a bit more and come across these people that caught my attention.  They were the ones that were walking in as we were walking out.  I asked the guy.  “Would there happen to be a small dog in your cart.” The guy replies, “um, no there isn’t.”

Doom.  All hope was lost.  I was about to wheel Mo out the store when the guy says.

“Oh wait, yes there is!”

*INSERT SOUND OF ANGELS AND TRUMPETS* Hall-a-friggen-lu-jah.  We’re saved.

Mo was reunited with CarDog and peace and justice was restored to her universe.

The moral of this story is that I need to hunt high and low for replacement CarDogs in case this was an actual emergency.
