All Eyes On Me
I love to take pictures. If you browse my Flickr page you’ll see that I have taken pictures of just about anything. On my computer at home I have over 13,000 pictures stored on my external harddrive.
With this craving to take pictures comes the fear of getting in trouble when taking all these photos. You may wonder what I’m leading to. Mr. Whistler, have you experience a situation where you have gotten in trouble for taking pictures??
Read on, my friends, read on.....
Last Saturday, I decide to go and do some REAL grocery shopping. This means going to only one place. WEGMANS. My goal was to do some shopping and snap a few pictures in order to share with you good folks here on TMP.com. I snap ONE picture and within 30 seconds some lady approaches me and kindly suggests that I refrain from taking any more photos. I ask her why and she tells me that they don’t allow the taking of photographs in order to protect company secrets.
I told her that I found it rather odd that I’d be taking company secrets from a public place but told her that I put away my camera and refrain from taking more pictures.
This is where the fun began… I kept my shopping list on my phone/PDA. I took it out of my pocket and started to shop. That same lady starts following me and then makes a call. Another manager shows up and they start to talk. I knew they were talking about me because one of them pointed in my direction. This was getting fun. As I wondered around the store I would see a manager type person somewhere in the distance. I wasn’t hard too spot because I was wearing a bright red hockey jersey. Maybe they thought I was taking picture with my phone.. Maybe they wanted to tackle me for squeezing the Charmin??
The whole way around the store I was thinking how stupid this was. What company secrets was I going to steal? It’s a public store. Am I going to steal how they lay out their candy bars?? Or how they stack the toilet paper?
Do I still love Wegmans? Yes. Do I think they need to take the stick out of their butt? Abso-friggen-lutely…
